How many of you saw the article in Galley Cat, from 22
January, about the amount of money authors make? This article talks about traditionally
published as well as self-published authors.
The numbers, after interviewing both types of authors, show a small
percentage of writers actually make a living writing, so we better love what we
do, or not give up the day job, if we’re lucky enough to have one.

I've been making a living as an author and editor since 2002, but it has become a lot more difficult in recent years. The first nine years was spent in the education industry, and then I switched to the Christian industry, working as a regular freelance editor for a book publisher and as a freelance writer for a religious materials publisher. From my perspective, so many people are enamored of free eBooks, that new-book sales are shrinking.
Hi Brenda,
Good for you being able to make a living as an author. I agree with you that people love the free ebooks. That does shrink sales.
Thanks for reading and commenting.
